Promenade costume, aubergine silk satin with closely fitted curiasse bodice, cloisonné buttons and tassel trim. The many dressmaker details in this costume were made possible by advances in mass-production techniques. The large bustle sits low over a shirred and pleated skirt. (c. 1876-1880)

Hat − Black straw with velvet flowers and streamers, lavender paillettes.
